Movie Review Of Khokababu
---------------------------------------
EXPECTATIONS - If I consider "Sedin Dekha Hoyechilo" better then even after two body hits like "Paglu" and "Romeo", "Khokababu" is able to catch much expectations. The Publicity And A super soundtrack [as usual in Dev movies] made Khokababu a New Year Surprise, especially to Dev Fans.
If I want to start then frankly, KHOKABABU is a winner. After DUI PRITHIBI, I've liked Dev so much and a film that casts him. KHOKABABU is obviously a start-to-end Dev flick with 'No-Gyan', 'No-Vigyan', 'Only Entertainment'. As it promises, it's thankfully successful.
Bhaiji [Ferdous] is a well-known Don in his territory whom everybody fears and obeys. Abir Roy aka Khokababu [Dev] joins Bhaijis circle as an accountant where he has a wacky senior Khara Babu [Subhashish]. Khokababu with his super wit starts to obtain every luxury that a perfect office should have and starts to hoax Bhaiji. Problems occur when Khokababu falls in love with Bhaiji's sister Puja [Subhashree]. Can their love survive when Bhaiji is over-possessive about his sister and goons like Ashish Vidyarthi are on the loose to take revenge from Bhaiji by killing his sister Puja? That's how our super-clever Chalu cheez Khokababu takes the story ahead.
As a first timer, Shankaraiya gives an extremely entertaining movie with an equal entertaining storyline and sequences. He is also one of the choreographers of the movie, but which seeks attention is giving such a lovely movie at first try that through Dev, who constantly has failed to give us a wonderful movie which he had promised again and again and again.
Specially which I should mention is the arrival of famous Bollywood celebrity choreographer Bosco-Caesar in Tollywood. "DANCE MAARE KHOKABABU" is a rage in recent item songs and undoubtedly the best one in Tollywood till date and the full credit goes to the choreographer duo along with Dev who didn't lose any hope while matching the steps. The steps were awesomely hard but Dev finally proves why Bengalees oath on him when Dancing is a hot topic. The best song-dance sequence till date is undoubtedly Dance Maare Khokababu.
Moreover, the singing debut of Dev takes place in this movie which is a fresh and most-talked topic nowadays. Dev sings well but his voice is very childish and immature as a singer and that's why many have entitled the song 'Cute'. Anyway, does that stop anything? Dev fans are mad about the song and the film both. Composed by Savy and sung by Dev, KHOKA CHALU CHEEZ works perfectly as Khokababu's theme song in the movie and was a joy to watch after the end of the movie.
There is another person relating to the movie who makes a sparkling debut through the movie who is the music director Rishi Chanda. Khokababu, just like Dev's other movies has a splendid soundtrack and the man behind this is Rishi Chanda. Jeet Ganguly was not with Dev this time, but does that stop anything? Where perfection should take place, it does, and Khokababu's soundtrack proves it. But if I relate to the movie, then from 2nd part of the movie unnecessary and frequent music videos harm the pace of the movie though the songs are melodiously great.
Dev, the man behind everything and the most important particle of the movie finally proves why he is successful as a chocolate Rom-com hero. The over smartness, faulty acting and disgusting dialogue-throwing - all of them are incredibly deducted by him this time. His role showed delicacy, comedy, charm and witty potentials which Dev carried away with intense ability. Dev proves many of Dev-haters wrong this time not only by his performance in the movie but also by the whole movie. Nothing new in Subhashree after ROMEO. Her charm, sweetness and beauty carried her role. If she wants to compete with Koel and Srabanti, she must work on her acting skills fast. Ferdous was fantastic in his role. I was amazed yet again after FIGHTER by Ferdous. He has every quality in him to be not-the-lead but the most strong part of a movie. Subhashis was awesome. Partha Sarahi was indeed funny. Biswajit Chakraborty and Laboni Sarkar as Dev's parents were awesome. Ashsih Vidyarthi and Biplab Chatterjee were fine.
Finally, Khokababu amazes not just me but also many people out there who has misconception about Dev or lost hope in him. I strongly recommend everyone [Dev fans & Dev haters] to go and just enjoy Khokababu with a mentality to receive plenty of entertainment, and they can't be disappointed. Neither is Khokababu a successful Gang-Rivalry movie nor a successful Rom-Com, Khokababu is a powerhouse entertainer that introduces a new phase of 'Dev', the Superstar. The movie has written 'Dev', 'Dev' and 'Dev' allover it.
