Calcutta, March 14, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) Acclaimed Bengali film-maker Raj Chakraborty (WBRi interview) is directing the new Tollywood Kolkata Bangla movie Kanamachi. The film is produced by Ashok Dhanuka & Himanshu Dhanuka and will be released under the banner of Eskay Digilabs.
The romance-drama with political shades stars Abir Chatterjee, Srabonti, Sayoni Ghosh, Ankush, Rajatava Dutta, Supriyo Dutta and others.
In Kanamachi, actor Ankush, actress Srabonti and her real-life buddy Sayoni play reporters. Abir Chatterjee plays the supremo of a political party named Barnaparichay who is up against Agniswar Deb's (Rajatava Dutta) ruling Murgi party and Kola (banana) party in the opposition.
Bangla Film lovers are looking forward to watching Srabonti shed her romance heroine look and play a serious political-journalist role. This film also lacks the top commercial Tollywood heroes DEV or Jeet.
Music of Kanamachi is directed by Indraadip Dasgupta.
